What is a Tidewater on the Fly Charter Experience?
Tidewater on the Fly runs two boats, A Boston Whaler Outrage 320 for the bay and ocean and a Triton 220 LTS for the shallow waters of our flats, rivers and creeks. We depart from different boat launches depending on where you are, what the weather delivers and where the fish are located. We customize trips to match your preferred fishing method, skill level and target species.
Where do we fish?
We offer guided experiences in Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries near Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News and Hampton, and the Atlantic Ocean just off Virginia Beach.
Atlantic Ocean/Chesapeake Bay: Our Boston Whaler 320 Outrage is customized with a tower and bow casting cage to fish for cobia, red drum, stripers, blues, and Spanish mackerel. It also has a head.
Inshore/Flats: Redfish, speckled trout, and stripers are our primary targets. A Triton 220 LTS customized for fly and light tackle fishing will take you places including Rudee Inlet, the Elizabeth and Lynnhaven rivers, Poquoson Flats, Back River, the James River and smaller creeks and tributaries in this system.
Elizabeth River: Running through Norfolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake, the “Liz” offer some of the best speckled trout fishing in the United States. Trophy speckled trout are a realistic possibility every day on the water. Redfish and schoolie stripers are also abundant on the “Liz”.
Adventure: These are great for anglers who want to explore new places, fish multiple days from one port, or who like to follow local reports and go where the fishing is “on”.
