Ran from one end of Hampton Roads to the other guiding father-son combo Will and Bill, catching healthy stripers and specks, including one citation speck on fly. Absolutely insane plan that worked out perfectly. Super fun to make it happen. Will is a spectacular fly angler and put on a show with multiple fly lines. Starting to see bigger specks in the system with some citation sized fish. Matt and Zach had a friendly bet going on and they tied on double digit numbers but Zach got the size win with this 28” speck. Nice work gentlemen! Been catching lots of small specks and reds on fly all over Hampton Roads. Yesterday we bumped into a rockfish blitz under a small flock of seagulls that lasted an hour and yielded some nice slot and overslot stripers on IM (while blitz was happening) and sinking lines (once the blitz stopped) and small deceivers. Cathy has been chasing the 2-lb fly tippet speck world record and she’s come within a half a pound but the record is still eluding us. Stripers made for excellent practice on such light tippet. Very difficult to land one without breaking off. Sad post but happy memories of my dad Greer, who passed peacefully last Sunday in Milsboro Delaware. He was 88yo, he lived a long and noble life and he was a great father to my three sisters and me. In his suffering, he forged more unity in his family. I am humbled by my sisters’ commitment to honoring their father, selflessly doing God’s work. To Helen: many thanks for a quarter century of taking care of our dad. Greer was an avid fisherman and certainly forged that passion in me. Thanks Dad. So many great memories, particularly on the water, with family and with W&M football. You were a great father. God bless. Go Blue Hens! Go Tribe!
