MEET YOUR FLY FISHING GUIDE

Captain Wayne MacMasters is a lifetime angler, having spent the last 30 years fishing the lower Chesapeake Bay and Hampton Roads. He spent his youth on Chester River in the upper Bay, found his way to Virginia to play football for the College of William and Mary, attended Duke University for his master’s degree and received his doctorate from AT Still University.

Wayne is a practicing physical therapist and loves to improve angler skills by analyzing and describing the human movements that lead to effective casts, line/fly control, eats and strip setting.

Wayne is a fly fishing guide in the classic sense: he will guide you to opportunities to cast to the saltwater fish in the lower Chesapeake Bay near Virginia Beach with you taking the shot, making the casts and hooking and landing your fish.

Coaching and instruction are a part of every day. He believes in positive reinforcement and controlling what you can control on a guided fly fishing charter: safety, great food, drink & music, and having fun!

ABOUT THE BOATS

We run two boats, one for the bay and ocean, and one for the flats of the lower Chesapeake.

Boston Whaler Outrage 320 “Outrageous” with 2+ man cobia tower and head.

This is the perfect boat for the cobia fishery: super stable, fast and comfortable. A custom-built bow mounted casting cage is critical to angler safety and success. The 320 Outrage allows us to approach a cobia with minimal noise and provide an angler with an excellent shot.

Triton 220 LTS

This excellent “bay style” center console is small enough to chase redfish in the shallows of our back bays and creeks and has a large bow flare to be dry in a chop.  The Mercury 250 4-stroke makes it super-fast and the MinnKota Terrova 112 trolling motor and Power Pole provide us with a stealthy approach to big speckled trout and slot size redfish.  Big stripers are available at low light times and the summer cobia cage may be added on days to add to angler safety.
